Interview with former Minnesota Court of Appeals Judge Randolph Peterson on his life and his legal and judicial career. He was appointed to the Minnesota Court of Appeals in 1990 and retired in 2018. The interview covers his family background and education, law school, being in the state Senate, the creation of the Court of Appeals, and his experiences being on the Court of Appeals.
This black and white, silent film documents the statue's unveiling on October 30, 1921. The bronze statue was a gift to our campus by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Rubbert of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The statue was modeled after a Luther monument in Worms, Germany, and designed by German sculptor Ernst Friedrich August Rietschel. It was cast by the Flour City Ornamental Iron Company of Minneapolis. The statue is over 12 feet high, stands on a pedestal of St. Louis granite, and weighs over 40 tons. On the day of the unveiling, there were more than 3,000 people present. Myrtle Rubbert Buenger, daughter of the donors and daughter-in-law of Concordia's President Theodore Buenger, pulled the cord to unveil the statue. "A Day at Our Saint Paul Concordia" is a black and white, silent film that documents the lifestyle of a student at Concordia College, Saint Paul in the 1920s and 1930s. The film includes shots of the campus, dormitories, classroom instruction, a gymnasium class, a baseball game, and clips from a graduation ceremony. The film highlights many of Concordia's early professors: Martin A. H. Graebner (President), Herman Wollaeger, William Moenkemoeller, Ernest Lussky, Oswald Overn, Fred Wahlers, William Dobberfuhl, E. G. Richard Siebert, Paul Stor, and Oliver Harstad.
Newsreel film dated 1931 includes scenes of downtown Glenwood businesses, business people, churches, and resorts, and the national tour of the 20 Millionth Ford automobile. The newsreel was commissioned by Henry Longaker of the Glenwood Theater to promote tourism to Lake Minnewaska. The film crew spent at least a week in Glenwood. This 13-minute reel is footage of particular interest to a local audience. It is a copy reel on 35 millimeter nitrate film without visible splicing.
